Upload & done
Photos are the heart of the community catalog. Every photo you add shows up in that release's gallery and (unless you go anonymous) on your profile.
All photos are public. There's no private photo storage here — uploading a photo shares it. The Anonymous setting only removes your name from it; the photo itself still appears in the release gallery.
Starting an upload
Go to My photos → Upload photos (or tap Add yours on a release page, which pre-fills that release). You can select several photos at once — each becomes a row in an upload queue.
You can drag photos onto the dropzone, tap Choose photos, or Take a photo with your phone camera. JPEG, PNG, or WebP work. Big files are automatically resized to 2400px and GPS location data is stripped for your privacy.
Cropping and rotating (optional)
Before uploading, you can open the square-crop tool: drag to pan, pinch or use the wheel/slider to zoom, and rotate. Square crops look best in the gallery grid — but cropping is optional; skip it to keep the full frame.
Picking the release
For each photo, set the release it belongs to:
- Let the Lens guess — after you pick a photo, a "Looks like…" strip suggests up to 5 matching releases. Tap one to fill it in (and the variant, and mold/plastic if the release has only one registered combo).
- Search manually — type the release name and pick it.
Tagging mold, plastic, and variant
Choose the mold, plastic, and variant (GG / AV / CK / SG / FI / Tester, or None). If a mold or plastic isn't in the list, tap Show all molds (or Show all plastics) to pick from the whole catalog.
The "Add to collection" checkbox
Check Add to collection if the disc in the photo is one you own — it'll be added to your collection as that specific disc. Leave it unchecked to just contribute the photo.
Public or anonymous
Choose the photo's visibility:
- Public (default) — shown with your name, and it appears on your public profile.
- Anonymous — stays in the release gallery but without your name, and it won't show on your profile.
Upload progress and finishing
Tap Upload all. A progress bar shows "Uploading N of M…". When it's done you'll see a count and buttons to View my photos or Upload more. If a photo fails, it stays in the queue so you can retry just that one.
Taking good disc photos
The upload page has a rotating tips carousel; here's the short version.
Lighting and glare
Use even, soft light. Avoid direct glare and harsh reflections on the foil — angle the disc slightly or move away from a single bright light.
Framing the stamp
Fill the frame with the disc face, straight-on. The stamp is what people (and the Lens) care about — keep it centered and in focus.
Background
A plain, uncluttered background makes the disc pop. A tabletop or a single-color surface beats a busy floor.
Managing a photo after upload
Every photo you've uploaded can be edited from My photos (tap Edit on a tile), and from My discs for pictured discs. Both open the same edit modal.
Opening the edit modal
Tap Edit on any of your photo tiles. The modal lets you fix the release, mold, plastic, variant, and alt text, plus manage collection and visibility.
The "In my collection" toggle
Check or uncheck In my collection. Unchecking only removes the disc from your collection — it does not delete the photo; the photo stays in the gallery.
Public vs. Anonymous visibility
Switch between Public (shown with your name, appears on your profile) and Anonymous (name hidden, not on your profile). The live preview tile shows exactly how the credit will read.
Featuring a photo
Toggle the star to feature it on your profile (max 5). If you're at the limit, the modal tells you.
Deleting a photo
Tap Delete photo (the red button) and confirm. This removes the photo from the gallery and your profile for good.
Quick answers
Where do my photos show up once I upload them?
Immediately in that release's community gallery, and on your profile / photos page — unless you marked the photo Anonymous, in which case it's in the gallery without your name and not on your profile.
What does "Anonymous" do to my photo?
It keeps your photo in the release gallery but hides your name and profile link, and removes it from your public profile. It still counts toward your contributor badge.
What does "Featured" mean?
Featured photos are pinned to the top of your public profile. You can feature up to 5, and drag them to reorder on the My photos page.
Can I upload a photo without adding it to my collection?
Yes. Just leave Add to collection unchecked. The photo still contributes to the release gallery.
Are my photos public?
Yes — all photos are public by design. Anonymous only removes your name; there's no private photo storage.
How do I change the release/mold/plastic on a photo I already uploaded?
Open My photos, tap Edit on the tile, change the fields, and Save changes.
The upload didn't finish / one photo failed — what do I do?
Failed rows stay in the queue. Tap Upload all again to retry just the ones that didn't go through. If a specific photo keeps failing, check the file type (JPEG/PNG/WebP) and try re-selecting it.
